At our January designation meeting, all candidates for Village Trustee and Mayor were asked if they would support whoever won the Democratic Primary in June, no matter the outcome.  All candidates pledged to our committee members that they would support those winners.  It is now clear that one of those candidates, who made that pledge but lost the primary, is not honoring their commitment.

 

As a committee, we respect the election process and wholeheartedly believe that all citizens have the right and ability to vote for who they believe best represents them.  We cannot and will not attempt to stop any candidate from working toward their goal; it is well within anyone's rights as a citizen of the Village of Fairport to run a write-in campaign.  This is Democracy at work, and we can appreciate that. 

 

We encourage everyone reading this to participate in Democracy this fall, whether by campaigning, working at the polls, and/or simply casting your vote.  As a committee we will continue to support the winners of June's Democratic Primary, in whom we have a great deal of confidence. You will be hearing more from them regarding their ideas and platforms very soon, and we would be honored to have you vote Row A with us in November.
